Albert Kochaphum

Albert Kochaphum (he/him) is a critical cartographer that currently works at Los Angeles Metro and teaches a course in the Asian American Studies department at UCLA. He graduated with a Masters of Urban Planning Alumni from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs in 2014. He is interested in sustainable transportation, progressivism in Asian American communities, and mapping. More information can be found on his website.

Joyce Nguy

Joyce Nguy (she/her) is a third year Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at UCLA in the Race, Ethnicity, and Politics subfield. Prior to her time at UCLA, she obtained her B.A. in Political Science and Education Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and was a Fulbright Taiwan grantee. She is primarily interested in studying Asian American political behavior.

Lindsey Mardona

Lindsey Mardona (she/her) is a fourth year undergraduate transfer student at UCLA majoring in Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Computing, and double minoring in Digital Humanities and Data Science Engineering. She is primarily interested in the intersection of technology and society and its practical applications.

Henry Truong

Henry Truong (he/him) is a fourth year undergraduate student at UCLA, majoring in Geography. He has an interest in geopolitical issues and the applications of GIS&T through a military lens.

Tessa Fier

Tessa Fier (she/her) is a UCLA undergraduate student (class of 2023) double-majoring in French and Geography with a minor in GIS&T. She is particularly interested in the connection between environmental conservation and colonial science and philosophy. In addition to her work on the MAAPP project, Tessa is a research assistant with the Luskin Center for History and Policy in the Public History Initiative, and writer and editor for FEM, UCLA’s feminist newsmagazine.

Edward Berdan

Edward Berdan (he/him) is a second year Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at UCLA, with subfields in Race, Ethnicity, and Politics (REP) and American Politics. His research focuses on Asian American politics, specifically the role of patriotism on political behavior in the Asian American community. Prior to UCLA, Edward attended California State University, Chico and California State University, Fresno, where he obtained a M.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Political Science respectively.
